It's time to engage in an epic battle at sea and war on the shore as Hasbro and Activision Publishing have announced that BATTLESHIP The Video Game is available in the UK today. The game takes a hybrid approach combining military strategy and fast-paced first-person shooter gaming as players take control of a powerful naval fleet and experience the cinematic action of war at sea. BATTLESHIP is now available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS hand-held systems. Combining military strategy and fast-paced first-person shooter gameplay, players take control of a powerful naval fleet in this re-envisioned version of BATTLESHIP. Trapped in a "dome" of alien-terror on the Hawaiian Islands, where support communications have been put to a halt, players commandeer real-world naval vessels, including Destroyers, Carriers, and even the famous U.S.S. Missouri as action-packed sea battles against alien invaders ensue across land, sea, and air.
Working with the legendary BATTLESHIP property, and the new epic action-adventure from Universal Pictures, we felt it was important to capture some of the cinematic drama while allowing players to experience the action from a unique perspective. We want both movie-goers and gamers of all ages to dive into an all new, fun BATTLESHIP experience.
- David Oxford, Activision Publishing.
With numerous gaming platforms available today, it is important to showcase BATTLESHIP on many different levels. The new BATTLESHIP is the perfect medley that both strategic and action-junkie gamers will fall in love with. - Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Media and Marketing at Hasbro.
In BATTLESHIP for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, first person run-and-gun gameplay meets tactical battle command. Playing as Cole Mathis, a first class Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician, players will deploy air strikes and radar sweeps to monitor and dominate the marine battlefield. With killer-combat instincts, players must lock-and-load an arsenal of weapons like machine guns and missile launchers to send the invaders packing. In the Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and DS versions, players are in control of a wide variety of naval units, including Cruisers, Submarines, and Patrol Boats in exciting turn-based combat with a team of specialised commanders. With different play modes to choose from, including Story and quick-battle Skirmish, players will unlock new maps, units, and leaders to turn the tide of battle.

Lollipop Chainsaw Voiced by the Experts
by Adam Riley on 03/22/12
A videogame as demented and vibrant as Lollipop Chainsaw demands a voice cast chock full of colourful and experienced actors to bring it to life. Now Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacture have revealed the talent that worked with filmmaker James Gunn (Super, Slither, Dawn of the Dead) have been hired to flesh out the characters and create a wonderfully wicked world of gumdrops and gore.
Tara Strong, the renowned voice behind dozens of videogame and cartoon characters, including Harley Quinn in last year's Batman: Arkham City, stars as the game's central protagonist, Juliet Starling. Michael Rosenbaum, known for his role as Lex Luthor in Smallville, voices the disembodied head of her boyfriend Nick.
Outside of the two leads, the rest of the cast is no less impressive with names appearing from all over the film and television industry. Checking in to bring some verve to Cordelia is Linda Cardelleni, known best as Lindsay Weir from the cult classic Freaks and Geeks. Shawnee Smith, one of the stars of the first four Saw films and Michael Rooker, of Walking Dead and Slither fame, also appear in Lollipop Chainsaw. Veteran TV and film actor Gregg Henry (24, United 93, Black Dahlia) takes on the role of Juliet's father and brings all the flair one would assume given his Elvis-inspired pompadour and roots as one of the greatest zombie hunters ever.
Swan, Romero High School's resident goth, will be played by James' brother Sean Gunn, who has also appeared in the 2010 film Super and Gilmore Girls. The final piece to this puzzle is the impressive set of lungs on rocker Jimmy Urine from the band Mindless Self Indulgence. On top of contributing to the game's soundtrack, Jimmy lends his voice talent to the deranged Zed.
Available on 15th June 2012, Lollipop Chainsaw is the 'un-deadly' story of sweet but killer zombie-hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realises the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw-wielding cheerleader.

Word of Adam's Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard / Firestorm Preview (Nintendo DS)
by Adam Riley on 03/22/12
The football RPG masterpiece from Level-5 returns, this time across the whole of Europe at the same time, with Inazuma Eleven 2.
The journey to Europe proved to be a long and arduous one for the original Inazuma Eleven on Nintendo DS, with the game unable to land in time for the 2010 World Cup, as Level-5's Akihiro Hino initially told Cubed3 he had hoped, instead coming to mainland Europe in January 2011, followed by a UK release on 26th August, after the belated debut of the cartoon series. Now the sequel, in Pokemon-esque dual release format, is here. Prepare to recruit even more players in the fight against evil...using football...in Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard / Firestorm.
Anyone jumping straight into Inazuma Eleven: Blizzard / Firestorm having come straight off the back of its predecessor will immediately feel at home, with happenings actually feeling a little too familiar at first. However, after settling gamers into the format of top-down adventuring and touch-screen tactical football antics, the real twist kicks in, with a story twist that only Level-5 could concoct. Rather like recent Professor Layton tales, the developer's head honcho, Akihiro Hino, has a penchant for the unusual and bringing in a football team called Alius Academy that seem to sport alien abilities, wreaking havoc and destroying various other football training grounds around Japan, is definitely akin to the crazy tales found in Professor Layton and the Lost Future and Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call.
A full review of the game will be coming soon via Word of Adam, but below is an overview of the games' highlights:
For the second entry in the series, the game has been released in two versions: Inazuma Eleven 2: Firestorm and Inazuma Eleven 2: Blizzard. The games are fundamentally the same, however as with the comparable Pokemon series, each version has certain aspects that make it unique. Gamers can expect the usual high quality, role-playing game blended football, playing action-packed matches via the Touch Screen, whilst collecting over 1,500 characters to form the user's own distinct football team. Up to four players can play via local wireless, with new and more special skills, abilities and characters included, as well as special premium matches that can be unlocked after completing the game, all delivered with fully localised voice-work and animation sequences.

Cubed3's Adam Riley Reviews Kid Icarus: Uprising (Nintendo 3DS)
by Adam Riley on 03/19/12
UK website, Cubed3, has just posted up its definitive review of Nintendo's latest 3DS game, Kid Icarus: Uprising, from Sora Ltd, the development team headed up by Masahiro Sakurai, the man behind the Kirby and Smash Bros. series. Although there have been two Kid Icarus games in the past, Pit's adventures were on the NES and Game Boy so long ago that any fans of the originals are likely to have forgotten the intriguing titles that mixed platform action with shooting elements.
However, the Nintendo 3DS reboot, Kid Icarus: Uprising, appears to have been a resounding success. Cubed3's Operations Director, Adam Riley called it a "a true labour of love by a developer with real passion for videogame making," scoring it 9/10.
Below is a quote from the review:
Kid Icarus: Uprising was always going to be a risky move from Nintendo, pegging it as one of the key Nintendo 3DS titles right from launch, but thankfully it was delayed long enough for Masahiro Sakurai and his team at Sora Ltd to spend sufficient time ironing out as many of the issues raised in early preview builds as possible. The end result is a thoroughly entertainment mix of air- and ground-based shooting that never slows down, throwing all manner of new challenges at the player, incentivising the whole process to ensure replay levels are as high as possible. The intense multiplayer options are merely the icing on an already very delicious cake.
Be sure to check out Adam Riley's full Cubed3 review of Kid Icarus: Uprising.
